We put a lot of thought into the technology at every one of our post acute care centers. It’s part of what lets us provide the highest quality of care—something we believe all of our residents and patients deserve. In turn, we’re always looking for the best equipment available, so our team members can continue to provide some of the best rehabilitation available.
Today, we’re taking a closer look at the C-Mill by Motek. Recently installed at our Five-Star Center in Wayne, NJ, the C-Mill is one of the most important and impressive innovations in physical rehabilitation.
Unique in its profile and sophistication, the C-Mill is a highly specialized treadmill that’s designed to help patients reacquaint themselves with real-world obstacles. Once a patient is healthy enough to step on the track, a therapist can begin to analyze their gait. In time, the therapist can program the C-Mill to simulate various objects that could pose a risk in the real world—think doorstops, puddles, and foot stools. Together, the therapist and patient can work to adjust the patient’s posture, pace, and gait so they’re better prepared when they return home.
It goes without saying that the C-Mill is a handy simulation to aid with the recovery process. Evaluating and adjusting a patient’s gait is a crucial step in physical therapy, and at our Wayne, NJ center, the C-Mill is becoming an invaluable part of the process.
On top of that? Just ask any of our residents, patients or team members: The C-Mill is a time saver. Most of its analytic tools work wire-free. That means less time attaching nodes and cables, and more time rehabilitating. During a session, the system’s software can quickly process step length, width, frequency and symmetry, and then automatically generate a comprehensive report.
In the future, we hope to add C-Mill technology to all of our post acute care centers. And until then, we’ll keep you posted on all the latest and greatest we are using to help our patients get home happier and healthier.
